ID card reader

The insic ID card reader allows the recognition of ID documents based on plain text data from electronically transmitted ID card copies in accordance with GlüStV, JMStV and GWG.

During registration, the user provides an electronic copy of the front and back of their ID document. This can be done integrated into the insic widget using a mobile phone camera or via upload.

The service uses the data fields first name, last name, date of birth, ID number, and verification code for authentication. Automatic recognition compares the ID card content with the user’s information . A verification is successful as soon as a predefined value for determining the required verification severity is exceeded.

Use this service for the initial review of new ID cards, for simple identification according to the German Juvenile Security Treaty (JMStV), or for instant game confirmation according to the German GlüStV. If the documents do not contain the required content, the service will fail. The number of re-upload attempts can be configured online.

In conjunction with further checks such as confirmation of age and address using SCHUFA Identity Check .

Particularly in the area of the JMStV, the MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) test is a cost-effective method for proving age and is common practice.
