POSTIDENT branch

POSTIDENT branch for offline identification via Deutsche Post branches

The POSTIDENT procedure in the post office uses the terrestrial branches of Deutsche Post to confirm the information provided in an online registration.

For cost reasons, the POSTIDENT variants serve our customers as a downstream procedure if the SCHUFA process, Open Banking or other VideoIdent methods were not successful.

After registration, the identification process is started using a printed coupon or the POSTIDENT app:

  • The user receives a POSTIDENT coupon to print out.
  • The employee in the store takes the information from the coupon and checks the presented identification document.
  • After confirmation, the identification data is transmitted digitally to insic.

Transactions are billed through your contract with Deutsche Post.

This process utilizes Deutsche Post’s nationwide network of over 8,500 branches . The POSTIDENT process is characterized by a high level of security. As an alternative to POSTIDENT, insic offers identification via the POSTIDENT portal.

For the in-store check, users need:

  • valid identification document with photo
  • printed POSTIDENT coupon or alternatively
  • digital POSTIDENT coupon within the POSTIDENT app

The following identification documents are acceptable:

  • valid German identity cards
  • valid German passports
  • Foreign official identity cards and passports equivalent to the German identity card – The documents must contain, among other things, a photograph and a machine-readable zone (MRZ).
