POSTIDENT online ID function (eID)

POSTIDENT online ID function (eID) for verifying identities via the Deutsche Post identification platform

The insic POSTIDENT eID service uses Deutsche Post’s identification platform to confirm the information provided during an online registration. All POSTIDENT services are compliant with the Money Laundering Act and the Telecommunications Act.

For cost reasons, the POSTIDENT variants serve our customers as downstream procedures if the SCHUFA process, Open Banking or other VideoIdent methods were not successful.

Transactions are billed through your contract with Deutsche Post.

After registration, the eID identification process is started within the POSTIDENT app, which must be installed beforehand:

  • Start of online identification: Transfer of the customer from the insic system to the POSTIDENT portal
  • Choice of POSTIDENT through online ID function: Procedure selection: Choice of identification via smartphone with NFC interface
  • Data transmission: Reading the ID card data via the smartphone’s NFC interface
  • Provision of identification data: Electronic data provision via the information portal and the insic web service

As an alternative, Deutsche Post offers identification at a post office branch.

Users must meet the following requirements for the eID procedure:

  • Activated NFC (Near Field Communication) of the smartphone, available on current high-end smartphones
  • German identity card, electronic residence permit or eID card with activated eID function
  • 6-digit PIN of the eID function, alternatively the 5-digit transport PIN can be used in the identification process to set the 6-digit PIN
  • Stable internet connection
